Piano Hammers

When you hit a key on a piano, it causes a hammer strikes a steel string inside the instrument, creating the familiar sound we know and love.  Piano hammers are usually made of wood and covered in felt to protect the strings.  A louder or softer note is produced depending on how hard the pianist hits the key.

After time, the felt on the piano hammer begins to break down and can affect the sound that the piano produces.  Piano hammers do need to be periodically adjusted or replaced, especially those that are used most often in the middle octaves.
